Following are the points which helps you to improve skills in lesson planning. 
HINTS TO PLAN A LESSON 


  1. .     State the objective of your lesson according to the contents which you are going to deliver. 
  2.        Some working link should be established between the past knowledge and present topic. 
  3.         Selected subject matter should be organised under significant points. 
  4.         Lesson plan should indicate the nature of activities to be carried out in the class room while delivering the lesson. 
  5.       It should clearly state the tolls and techniques to be used in the classroom.
  6.         B.B. work and the assignments to be given to the students should be mentioned in the lesson plan.
  7.        Evaluation procedure for students output should also be indicated in the lesson plan.
  8.     Before writing the lesson plan fill in the identification data.

ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF GOOD LESSON PLAN (DO’S) 

1.    Lesson plan should be drafted properly in a legible hand.
2.    The objective of the lesson, should be clearly and concisely stated.
3.    The relevant previous knowledge and experience of pupils should be made use of while the new lesson.
4.    Announce the topic at the appropriate time and write it on the chalk board.
5.    Present the content systematically Integrate various parts of the lesson.
6.    . Ensure adequate pupil participation in class deliberations.
7.     Put two to three brief, clear and well worded questions to the students at the introductory stage.
8.     Formulation of generalizat10n if any should be done with the help of students.
9.    . While asking questioflS address the whole class and get answers from students individually.
10.  Proper division of time to be developed to various parts of the lesson.
11. Divide the lesson into suitable units.
12.  Sectional recapitulation is essential.
13.  Do not forget to correlate the lesson with life or other subjects.
14. Pay an individual attention to various pupils.
15. Application stage should be covered with the help of students.
16.  Finish your lesson within the time as stated in the lesson plan.
17.  Keep your class under proper control.
18.  Make use of appropriate movements and gestures.
19. Keep an eye on the students while writing something on the chalkboard.
20.  In a language lesson mistake corrected should be got drilled to the whole class.



(DON’TS)
1.    Double questions should not be framed.
2.    Avoid group response.
3.     Questions inviting answers in ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ should be avoided.
4.    Do not put questions to front benches only.
5.    Avoid ridiculing the students in the class.
6.    Do not spend too much time on certain parts and rush through the remaining parts.
7.    There should not be total departure from the lesson plan.
8.    The use of excessive teachings aids is not desirable.
9.    Repetition of questions is not proper.
10. Do not frame lengthy questions.
11. Meaningless and purposeless movements should be avoided.
12. Avoid periods of silence and confusion.
13. Don’t show your back for a long period while writing on the black board.
14. Don’t teach yourself without the active participation of the students.
15. Don’t teach like a statue.
16. Don’t come to the class un-prepared .


17. Do not st teaching unless you find proper class room organization and management.
